Storage · Pedestal · Action
In Franz Erhard Walther–s art, aesthetic experiences occur in situ and in actu. They are elements of a continual process and part of a dialogical relationship made possible by this temporality. Objects are activated and interpreted through mental and physical engagement, whereby the exhibition is both the site and the result of these transformative actions. When the works are held in a store, they exist in a storage state; presenting and –using– them in an exhibition generate different states of the work. The processual nature of Walther–s artistic practice is explored in the exhibition –Franz Erhard Walther: Perpetuum mobile. Storage · Pedestal · Action? and was reflected in this catalogue, which documents the temporary –orders of things– that have been created over the course of the exhibition, as well as the transformation of the artworks through participation and activation.
